IEA Energy Analyst Andy Mayer has been quoted in The Daily Telegraph discussing the Labour Party’s new plans to force business to align with the government’s Net Zero objectives.
Andy said:
“[Shadow Climate Change Secretary, Ed] Miliband may simply implement the recommendations of the Financial Reporting Council to align standards, at limited cost, and potentially provide some benefit by providing clarity, if light touch.
“The more alarming element is what he means by compulsion on ‘credible’ transition plans, implying ones aligned with those of the UK Government whose Net Zero by 2050 targets are legally binding.”
