IEA Head of Lifestyle Economics Christopher Snowdon has been quoted in The Daily Express and The Daily Star criticising comments by the World Health Organisation that use of the term ‘responsible drinking’ downplays the risks of even low levels of alcohol consumption.

Christopher said:

“There is a tendency among nanny activists to erase the concept of free will and personal responsibility. We see this not only with alcohol but also with food and gambling.

“Their goal is to put all the blame on people who sell products rather than on the people who misuse products. This gives them the excuse for endless restrictions on individual freedom masquerading as controls on industry.”
