IEA Energy Analyst Andy Mayer has been interviewed on TalkTV discussing Sir Keir Starmer’s net zero and green job creation policies.
“There are about 215,000 jobs in the North Sea, or dependent on North Sea oil and gas operations, and he (Keir Starmer) has threatened all of those. He said he’s only going to stop new oil and gas drilling, but in reality the effect that announcement has had is to drive investments off our shores…
“We are about 75-80% dependent on oil and gas as the fundamental part of our energy system, and if all of those start to come through abroad, then we’re going to have a far worse effect on the environment than if we did it here at home.”
