In a joint op-ed for The Telegraph, IEA Editorial & Research Fellow Prof. Len Shackleton and Director of Communications Annabel Denham wrote about why plans for mandatory ethnic pay gap reporting would be a bad idea, and result in potentially “crude and misleading data“.

They wrote that “the government should follow the recommendation from the Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities, which advised against requiring businesses to publish these figures, rather than folding to those noisily pushing for compulsion“.
