Annabel Denham appears on Channel 4 News

IEA Director of Communications, Annabel Denham, discussed Boris Johnson’s plan for a high wage economy on Channel 4 news with former Labour Treasury minister Kitty Ussher, who is now chief economist at the Institute of Directors.

The government believes that by preventing the import of cheap labour through immigration to fill labour shortages in sectors such as HGV drivers and hospitality jobs, British employers will be forced to increase wages for British workers to fill positions. Annabel argued this was nonsense as higher wages would be reflected in higher prices for consumers, risking inflationary pressures.
