Prof. Len Shackleton writes in The Times

IEA Editorial and Research Fellow, Professor Len Shackleton has written in The Times criticising revived proposals to create an independent football regulator.

Len said:

“Regulating an industry imposes compliance costs and disincentives to investment and innovation. It hasn’t protected industries such as energy, water and financial services from regular crises and increased costs to consumers. There are usually unforeseen consequences that create problems. Football will be no different.”

The IEA published Red Card: Why English football doesn’t need an independent regulator in March 2022 which you can read here.
