Should Water Be Renationalised? | IEA Podcast

Thames Water, the UK’s largest private water provider, has recently come under fire over sewage leakages and debts of £14bn. This has prompted many to call for its nationalisation, but is this the right move?

To discuss this, IEA Director of Public Policy and Communications Matthew Lesh spoke to Professor Steve H. Hanke, professor of applied economics and founder and codirector of the Institute for Applied Economics, Global Health, and the Study of Business Enterprise at the Johns Hopkins University. Professor Hanke is an expert in the field and has been writing and advising about the provision of water since the 1960s.
