The IEA Book Club is delighted to host an upcoming Book Launch event for our latest book “Why Free Speech Matters” authored by Dr Jamie Whyte, which forms part of the IEA’s Cultural Affairs workstream. This event will take place on Monday 11th October and will be chaired by Mark Littlewood (IEA Director General).

What is free speech? How is it under threat? And why should it be defended at all costs?

In this latest IEA book, Jamie contends that free speech brings fundamental benefits to society, most notably by promoting the growth of knowledge and providing an essential bulwark against tyranny.

But there are new attempts to limit free speech, which Jamie seeks to argue against. With free speech under threat, the book also proposes a way to curtail such constraints. And finally, Jamie also issues a rallying cry: Those who prize free speech must once again come to its defence – as he outlines exactly “Why Free Speech Matters”.

IEA Book Club events are usually reserved for members, but we will be opening this launch event to the public. To apply for tickets, please contact us at bookclub@iea.org.uk or call 020 7799 8906 To find out more about the IEA Book Club, please follow the link here
