The IEA is delighted to invite you to a discussion of migration controls and whether any form of limit or barrier is compatible with a free society. With Brexit, the refugee crisis, and the prospect of a Donald Trump presidency all looming, it should be a fascinating and timely discussion.

The event will coincide with a significant new IEA publication by renowned political economist Philippe Legrain.

To RSVP, please email events@iea.org.uk or fill in the below form.

About the event

Philippe will introduce his new publication and make the case for free movement while highlighting the costs of migration controls.

We will then hear from a number of speakers who will respond to Philippe’s remarks and offer their own thoughts on the topic.

Speakers

  • Philippe Legrain, political economist, writer, commentator, and consultant (a full biography is available here)

  • Professor Alan Manning, Migration Advisory Committee (biog here)

  • Sam Bowman, Executive Director, Adam Smith Institute

  • Jill Rutter, Director of Strategy and Relationships, British Future
