IEA Head of Political Economy Kristian Niemietz has been quoted in The Independent responding to news that mandatory housebuilding targets for local authorities have been scrapped.

Describing the decision as “another triumph of Nimbyism”, Kristian said:

“Britain is now officially a ‘Nimby-ocracy’, run in the interest of those who were lucky enough to get on the housing ladder in time, and who have since been busy pulling up that ladder.”
