IEA Head of Public Policy Matthew Lesh has written in The Daily Telegraph outlining the threats online expression posed by the Online Safety Bill, even if the controversial ‘legal but harmful’ provision is removed.

Matthew wrote:

“The challenge, however, is determining what is and is not illegal in tricky cases – in the context of billions of words and minutes of new content every day. Does that comment about trans issues or refugees constitute harassment or is it part of a genuine debate? Worryingly, the Bill very much leans on the side of “if in doubt, censor”.”
