Matthew Lesh, IEA Head of Public Policy, has commented in City AM on a government-commissioned smoking review which proposes an annual increase of the legal age to buy tobacco until no one is able to.

Matthew pointed out that prohibition is a flawed policy which only serves to boost black market activity.

“An annual increase in the smoking age, on the way to prohibition, is totally insane. Prohibition simply doesn’t work. It will create a gigantic criminal black market.”
