Mark Littlewood, IEA Director General, has written for The Times on Liz Truss’s call for the formation of a new economic alliance between liberal nations to advance capitalism across the world.

Mark argued that Truss’s idea is indeed interesting, but must be executed with three considerations in mind.

“First, the new body must be configured such that it doesn’t become a closed, protectionist bloc.”

“Second, the persistent, protectionist barriers between the putative members of an economic Nato need to be tackled with a renewed and determined assault.”

“Third, if Truss finds favour in pursuing her economic Nato concept, it needs to be created alongside a re-evaluation of whether international institutions are any longer relevant to our global needs.”
