Richard Wellings, former IEA Deputy Research Director, has conducted research on the impact of vast taxpayer contributions on the UK’s travel sector, particularly air travel.

Richard argued that, due to the impact of the pandemic on travel, subsidies for rail companies and airlines are now “difficult to justify”.
