Reacting to the introduction of the government’s junk food advertisement ban which will see adverts banned before watershed at 9pm, IEA Head of Lifestyle Economics Christopher Snowdon told The Telegraph: “banning adverts for normal, everyday food products would stifle competition, hurt businesses and be bad for consumers“.

Christopher added that the government should “throw in the towel and accept that advertising jam, sandwiches and olive oil should not be a criminal act under any circumstance, regardless of how many people the company employs.”
