Delaying lockdown roadmap could cost ‘£1billion a week’

IEA Director General Mark Littlewood was quoted in the Daily Express, warning that any delay to the June 21 ‘freedom day’ would be an economic catastrophe for the UK economy.

Mark argued: “The government aren’t just moving the goalposts. They are playing a wholly different sport“, saying the lockdown was initially needed to prevent the NHS being overwhelmed, but “Now the justification is a rise in an infection rate for a variant of the virus, even though virtually every vulnerable person has been fully vaccinated“.

Mark made the point that  postponing freedom day could “amount to £1billion a week.”
