The United Kingdoms’ future relations with China are at a crossroads, with many senior figures now calling for a reset in our foreign policy towards the largest emerging economy in the world. What strategy should the government adopt in light of China’s increasingly authoritarian and egregious behavior? Have we been too short-sighted in our response to the rise of China and, is a more muscular strategy now required? Or are the political and economic consequences of such a conflict too costly, and should we instead strive for greater cooperation and civic engagement?
