Coronavirus has driven a wedge between the generations

For the vast majority of the British public who since March have ‘obeyed’ the lockdown rules, “the rhetoric coming from those in positions of authority over the past week is a terrible insult”, writes the IEA’s Director of Communications, Annabel Denham.

Writing for the Daily Express, Annabel argues that: “Regardless of age, we are no longer being treated like adults and it is making us behave like children, passing the buck rather than thinking critically. But we should reject false dichotomies. We should remind ourselves – and decision-makers – that keeping people under some form of lockdown until the virus is eradicated is not a plan”.
