We are delighted to invite you to join us for an online webinar discussion with Professor Fabio Rojas, Professor of Sociology at Indiana University Bloomington, from 1pm – 2pm (BST) on Wednesday 6^th May. He will be discussing ‘Freedom is Something we do Together’.

Professor Rojas will analyse freedom using the tools of cultural sociology. When political theorists and philosophers discuss freedom, they often consider the balance between negative and positive rights. Alternatively, historical accounts of freedom may focus on particular institutions or movements for freedom. However, one might view freedom as the ability to act in ways that are tolerated by the wider society. Thus, freedom in this view is about jointly created meanings and interaction. The general approach to freedom is illustrated with examples from campus free speech controversies.
