In Memoriam – Harold Rose

“We were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Professor Harold Rose, who died last week, aged 94.

Professor Rose was a distinguished economist, former Chairman of the IEA and lifelong supporter of the free market movement.

From 1958 to 1965, Professor Rose served a Senior Lecturer at the London School Economics, before leaving to become the first faculty member of the London Business School, where he became Emeritus Professor of Finance.

He served as our Chairman of the Board of the IEA for several years, taking over from Lord Vinson in 1995.

Professor Rose’s service to the IEA will not be forgotten. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him; our thoughts and sympathies are with his family at this sad time.” – Mark Littlewood, IEA Director General

“His calm wise leadership at the helm of the IEA steered it into waters of even greater influence. That is part of his lasting legacy as a very special man …an example to us all.” – Lord Vinson
