A market approach to climate change: how and why to regulate global carbon dioxide emissions

Following the recent Paris Climate Change conference there is once again an increased focus on carbon reduction. A global carbon market remains the only potential solution to the global climate policy problem that will drive down decarbonisation in the timeframe suggested by climate science. In this lecture we will explore what is meant by a global carbon market, why it is so important, how it might come about and what this means for UK and EU energy and climate policy.
