THINK 2016: “How Life As We Know It Is Changing”

Watch Daniel Ben-Ami, Jimmy McLoughlin, and Dr Steve Davies (Chair) take part in our THINK 2016 panel: “How Life As We Know It Is Changing”

Has innovation tailed off or are we at the start of a series of transformations? What can we look forward to from science, technology and business? Will we all live as long as Biblical patriarchs? What will be the big technology hits of the near future? How wealthy might ordinary people become? What will everyday life be like two decades from now?

Daniel Ben-Ami has worked as a writer specialising in economics and finance for many years. During that time he has contributed to numerous publications including the Australian, Financial Times, Guardian, Shanghai Daily and spiked. His books include Ferraris for All (2nd edition, Policy Press, 2012) and Cowardly Capitalism (Wiley 2001). His website can be found at www.danielbenami.com

Jimmy McLoughlin covers the policy brief of ‘new’ economy – disruptive technologies, alternative finance, the sharing economy, start-ups and scale ups at the Institute of Directors where he is the Head of External Relations and responsible for the public image of the IoD. He also helps to run the IoD99, a network of over 1000 high growth start-ups, with founders under the age of 40, who meet once a month to receive a master class on how to run their business. Jimmy read Political Science at the University of Birmingham and started his career working for Boris Johnson in 2008.

Dr Steve Davies is the Head of Education at the IEA. Previously he was program officer at the Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) at George Mason University in Virginia.
