Steve is the Programmes and Research Officer for the IEA-Vinson Centre partnership at the University of Buckingham. He holds a PhD from the University of Warwick, as well as a BA in History and Politics, an MA in United States Foreign Policy, and an MA in Social Science Research. His doctoral thesis explored strategic narratives along the economy-security nexus in U.S.-China relations between 1993 and 2020.

More broadly, his scholarly focus revolves around the enmeshing of economic subjects within the framework of national security. He is also curious about questions stemming from technological change, how ontological perceptions shape economic reality, as well as the lessons that can be learned from economic disasters.

Outside of work, Steve’s interests include long-distance running, pub trivia nights, and lazy movie marathons. He is also a passionate fan of the literary works of J.R.R. Tolkien – and will talk endlessly on the subject if permitted.
