Kate Andrews appears on BBC Radio 4's You and Yours
In the interview Kate makes the case that gender pay gap is the difference between men and women’s remuneration – that’s very vague and it’s supposed to be because then we have to try to whittle it down to find out if people are getting equal pay. The gender pay gap can be manipulated in many different ways and that’s why you have to look at the detail, and establish whether the job is the same, whether the number of hours worked is the same etc. Employers are not the ones holding women back, but as a culture we are the ones who still expect women to take on the large part of the burden of childcare and housework. We should be focused on equal pay, not on bogus statistics.
