Shanker Singham appears on BBC Newsnight
In the interview Shanker makes the point that America doesn’t actually chlorinate chicken. They actually use peracetic acid which has been approved by the European Food Safety Agency five years ago.
We can always choose what we want to do. This is the opening bid from the US, and we are going to have to make choices. Those choices don’t have to be between the US and the European system, it’s a choice between identical regulation with the EU or a system of mutual recognition and equivalence with the rest of the world.
