Far from being the ‘envy of the world’, international comparisons of health system performance almost always rank the NHS the bottom third, on a par with the Czech Republic and Slovenia. The data from UK outcomes is much more likely to resemble the profile of a poor country in Eastern Europe than the likes of France or Germany.
Kate was responding to a piece from Boris Johnson which claimed the only change needed in the system is more funding.
