Simon Clarke MP, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, told spectators at an IEA event that, while the Coronavirus pandemic marked an ‘era of exceptionalism’, uncosted public spending will not continue in the long-term.

Clarke asserted that, “It cannot be the case — will not be the case — that further requests for unfunded spending are approved. That message needs to go out unequivocally.”
