Victoria Hewson comments for the Belfast News Letter
Victoria Hewson, IEA Head of Regulatory Affairs, has commented in the Belfast News Letter on the introduction of the Northern Ireland Protocol Bill, which seeks to amend the trade difficulties brought about by the Northern Ireland Protocol.
Victoria commented: “The publication of the Bill is a positive and welcome step. As set out in my briefing in May, the EU’s position of no renegotiation and insistence on strict implementation of the Protocol was set to make matters worse for businesses and consumers in Northern Ireland already suffering economic disruptions from partial implementation.”
“The institutions of the Belfast ‘Good Friday’ Agreement that the Protocol was supposed to protect have collapsed under its provisions.”
