Sin taxes should be scrapped because they cost the poor up to TEN TIMES as much as rich people, a new report argues.
Levies on alcohol, tobacco and fizzy drinks are often presented as a way to help disadvantaged people make better life choices.
But the Institute of Economic Affairs said today that the charges do little to improve the health of the poor. And they cost as much as ten times as a share of income for less wealthy people compared to the burden they put on the rich.
