Len Shackleton appears on BBC Radio 4's World at One

Len Shackleton, Editorial Research Fellow at the Institute of Economic Affairs has appeared on BBC Radio 4’s World at One to discuss maintenance loans and higher education.

In the interview Len argues that the advantage of maintenance loans is that they’re forward looking. How much you pay back depends on what you earn in later life, not on what your parents incomes are at the time. It is always unpleasant for grants to be taken away; there is a logic to maintenance loans.
