David (Lord) Frost is to step down as Director General of the Institute of Economic Affairs for personal reasons and will move to a new role as its first Senior Policy Fellow. He will continue as interim Director General for the coming weeks while a recruitment process starts for his successor, and he will remain closely associated with the Institute’s research and policymaking in the new role.
The whole IEA team look forward to continuing to work with David in the future in the cause of promoting free markets and prosperity.
Linda Edwards, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Institute of Economic Affairs, said:
“Lord Frost is someone who cares deeply about Britain’s future and about the ideas that underpin a free and prosperous society. His philosophy, experience and insights have already made a valuable contribution to the Institute.
“The Board fully understands and respects Lord Frost’s need to step back from the Director General role. We are glad that this is not a farewell and we look forward to continuing to work with him in his new role as we recruit a successor.”
Lord Frost said:
“The Institute of Economic Affairs is a great organisation which has a real capacity to influence the debate about Britain’s economic future. I regret that personal commitments mean that I cannot lead it into that future, but I am delighted I will continue to be closely involved with its very important work in a different way as it moves forward.”
