Julian Jessop appears on BBC Radio 5 Live
In the interview Julian argues that while nationalisation might be popular, that doesn’t make it a good idea. When British Rail ran the whole of the railway network, it was an absolute disaster. A lot of these nationalisations will also require a huge amount of borrowing, which arguably the government can’t afford. On nationalising the water industry Julian argues that Scottish Water – which is already in public ownership – is not doing any better than privatised English water companies in terms of providing lower prices for consumers.
