Kate Andrews appears on Question Time
Kate Andrews, News Editor at the Institute of Economic Affairs has appeared on BBC Question Time alongside Jo Johnson MP, Barry Gardiner MP, Jonathan Freedland and Nicola Horlick.
On Syria:
Kate argue that countries such as the UK, US and France must come together with a strong, tactical solution of Syria. But to respond to children being gassed by bombing those same children is not the right way to go.
On the Hither Green burglar:
The families of the burglar have every right to grieve but a fence opposite the home the burglar attempted to rob is not the appropriate place to do so.
On antisemitism in the Labour party:
You only have to go back the past 48 hours to see attacks on the Jewish community from within the Labour party. This is a huge problem and the Labour leadership has done nothing to address it. This behaviour should not be tolerated anywhere, but under no circumstances should it be tolerated at the highest level of politics.
On free trade and Brexit:
Free trade deals are great. Let’s hope we get one with the EU, I think that’s looking more and more likely that we will. And let Britain try to get them with the rest of the world too, which does require leaving the single market and the customs union. It’s true you don’t get all the benefits, but there will be new benefits to be reaped by these new opportunities. Obviously, Labour’s 6 point plan doesn’t add up. Points two and three on the exact same benefits and then a UKIP line on migration contradict each other.
