Indeed, attempts to police behaviour on campus would come to nothing without adults willing to facilitate the whims of their students – even leading the charge outright. Though much has been made of students protesting against Theresa May’s portrait going on display at her old Oxford college, the protests were accompanied by an open letter signed by numerous academics.
The tragedy is not just that students are prone to censor – it is that their mentality has so seamlessly integrated into the culture around them.
