Nerissa Chesterfield appears on BBC Three Counties

Nerissa Chesterfield, Communications Officer at the Institute of Economic Affairs has appeared on BBC Three Counties to discuss the story that, on the whole, pensioners are now better off than working families.

In the interview Nerissa argues that this is a good news story in that pensioners are wealthier and more productive than they used to be. But our welfare policies for pensioners are not necessarily efficient. With just under 50 per cent of our welfare budget assigned to pensioner benefits, and measures like the triple lock state pension being overly generous and poorly targeted, the government needs to reassess the division of our welfare budget.
