IEA Economics Fellow Julian Jessop has been quoted in The i responding to the Labour Party’s pledge not to raise general taxes if they win the General Election.

Julian said:

“It is hard for any party to credibly rule out tax rises, given the many and increasing demands on public services. But it is even more difficult for Labour given the extra pressure for more spending from its core supporters and, perhaps, their greater willingness to see the tax burden rise further to pay for this.”
