In his latest column for The Times, IEA Director General Mark Littlewood examines the consistency of government policy, coordination across departments, and whether it signals a unity of purpose. He writes:

“In the context of an over-arching civil emergency, the full armoury of state power is deployed to a specific end. Whatever one’s view on the merits and longevity of the lockdown process, its implementation has been an enormous organisational feat.”
