Jeremy Browne, IEA Breakthrough Prize judge, writes for The Telegraph

Jeremy Browne, member of the judging panel for the IEA Breakthrough Prize and former Liberal Democrat MP, has written for The Telegraph on the winning entry and how their proposal of tax decentralisation will help the poor and increase freedom.

In his article Jeremy argues that it is right to focus attention on the people who do not enjoy many of the central benefits of our successful economic model. The winning essay which promotes fiscal liberalisation represents a fundamental reimagining of the state. It places power closer to people and promotes the eternal liberal virtues of competition and choice and the improvement in performance that results. It offers a model where innovation and imagination are encouraged at the expense of dull uniformity.
