Philip Booth appears on BBC Radio Merseyside
The report entitled, ‘Work Longer, Live Healthier,‘ shows that in the medium- and long-term retirement can lead to increased health problems including depression and loneliness. Mr Booth states that though there is a holiday effect in the short term, retired people are 40% more likely to suffer from depression than people of the same age that are still working. The key to retirement, the study says, is to keep active and create a structure that mimics work.
